Spokesperson for HRP Const. John MacLeod said police believe three vehicles were involved in the crash.

“Our collision reconstruction specialists are on site trying to complete the investigation as quickly as possible,” he said. “We hope to reopen the bridge shortly, but it will take some time to ensure they can complete the investigation.”

The closure of the MacKay, which connects Halifax to Dartmouth, is disrupting traffic on both sides of the bridge.

“Avoid the area and use alternate routes this morning,” Halifax Regional Police said in a statement. “Motorists should expect delays to their morning commute and are urged to drive with caution.”
