2024 Masters odds, field: Surprising PGA picks, predictions from golf model that called 10 majors

The 2024 Masters Championship odds will change based on how golfers perform in other tournaments. The 2024 Masters will be held at Augusta National Golf Club starting Thursday, April 11 and will be packed with elite golfers like 2023 Masters winner Jon Rahm, so which golfers will you be targeting in your 2024 Masters selections? Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 golfer in the world, and Rory McIlroy are favorites at 15-2 odds in the latest 2024 Masters odds. Rahm follows at 19-2 odds, while Viktor Hovland is 15-1 to win the 2024 Masters.

Hovland has never won a major, yet he has the 4th shortest odds, so should you take him at this price point in your 2024 Masters projections? Before securing any picks of your own for the 2024 Masters, be sure to check out our 2024 Masters golf predictions and projected leaderboard from SportsLine’s proven computer model.

The SportsLine ownership model, designed by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been extremely hot since the PGA Tour restarted in June 2020. In fact, the model has made more than $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, winning tournament after tournament.

McClure’s model predicts Jon Rahm will finish first on the leaderboard in the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the crossbar secured Rahm’s second major victory of his career before the weekend. Rahm was two strokes away from the lead heading into the third round, but the model still expected him to be the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, who also had Scottie Scheffler win in 2022.

Additionally, the model included Nick Taylor in his best bets to win the 2023 RBC Canadian Open. This bet came out to 70-1, and for the entire tournament, McClure’s best bets made nearly $1,900. McClure’s best bets also included Jason Day (17-1) winning outright in the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson and Rickie Fowler (14-1) taking first place on the leaderboard in the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Cla*sic.

This same model has also pulled off a whopping 10 majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen tremendous returns.

Now that the 2024 Masters field is taking shape, SportsLine has simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results are surprising. Head over to SportsLine now to see the predicted leaderboard.

Top Masters Predictions 2024

One of the big surprises the model is calling for at the 2024 Masters is that Rory McIlroy, a four-time major champion and one of the co-favorites, fails to complete a career Grand Slam and barely cracks the top five at Augusta National. The 34-year-old is ranked second in the Official World Golf Rankings and won the Hero Dubai Desert Cla*sic earlier this season, but has not been particularly sharp in recent PGA Tour events.

McIlroy finished 66th at the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and 24th at the Genesis Invitational. McIlroy has finished in the top 10 at Augusta National seven times, including a solo second place in 2022, but has missed the Masters in two of the past three years. He’s given up .511 strokes per round on the field so far this season (121st on the PGA Tour) and the model doesn’t like his chance to win a fifth major title at Augusta National.

Another surprise: Patrick Cantlay, the 21-1 long shot, has a strong lead on the title. He has a much better chance of winning it all than his odds suggest, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. The 31-year-old finished fourth at the Genesis Invitational in mid-February, and has finished 12th or better in three of his first five tournaments of the 2024 PGA Tour season.

Cantlay is seeking his first major championship, but is coming off one of his best seasons on the PGA Tour, especially as he saw a significant rise in major scores. Cantlay has finished 14th or better in three of the four major tournaments in 2023 after doing so just four times in his previous 22 attempts. Cantlay has eight PGA Tour victories in his career, and the model views him as a solid value play at this price point since his odds dropped after he finished outside the top five in four of his first five tournaments this season. Playing better over the next few weeks could reduce Cantlay’s returns, so the model sees now as the perfect time to include him in your 2024 Masters bets. See who else you could be picking here.

How to choose 2024 for masters

The model also targets three other golfers with odds of 20-1 or more to make a strong round at the green jacket. Anyone who supports these long-term goals can achieve great success. You can only see the form choices here.
