“A road rage situation”: video footage of 2 people fighting on Highway 401 in Toronto – Toronto
A video has surfaced on social media showing two people fighting on the ground on Highway 401 in Toronto in what Ontario Provincial Police are treating as a case of road rage.
Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the fight happened Tuesday on Highway 401 near Leslie Street around 5 p.m. during rush hour.
Schmidt said two vehicles stopped and two men got out of their vehicle and began fighting over an altercation. Witnesses reported it to police, but Schmidt said by the time OPP officers arrived, they couldn’t find them.
A video posted online appears to show a man on top of another struggling with two stopped cars, including one with the driver’s door wide open.
Schmidt said officers were able to speak to one of the men involved and he was cautioned.
“It was a road rage situation,” he said.
Schmidt called the incident “unacceptable” and said it “should never have led to this escalation.”
He did not say what led to the fight that spilled onto the highway.
“It could become violent, it could become deadly. You don’t know what’s going to happen. It’s definitely not worth it,” he said.
No charges have been filed.
