A 23-year-old Winnipeg man is behind bars in connection with multiple property crime cases in East St. Paul, Manitoba.
On Monday, Red River North RCMP received a call about someone trying to get into locked cars around 1 a.m. on Omeniuk Drive.
Officers attended the scene and found an abandoned car at the intersection of Omeniuk Drive and Terrance Place.

As the car was being checked by an officer, a woman approached with a man holding a baton, police said.
With the cruiser’s emergency lights off, it’s believed the two were unaware they were heading for the police.
Once the officer noticed the baton, he placed the man under arrest without incident.
It was later discovered that the man was linked to a number of crimes in the area.

The 23-year-old faces multiple charges, including breaking and entering, vehicle theft and carrying a weapon.
The woman was released and faces no charges.
The RCMP is continuing its investigation.
