Amanda Serrano vs. Nina Menke, Jake Paul Returns: Prediction, Fight Card, Odds, Start Time, Expert Picks

Amanda Serrano and Jake Paul formed a boxing and promoter a*sociation. The two will now compete on the same card on Saturday, with Serrano defending her WBO, IBF and WBA featherweight titles against Nina Menke in the main event from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Paul will be in the main support bout facing Ryan Borland for the cruiserweight championship.

The Serrano vs. Menke fight will be a 12-round, three-minute affair as Serrano looks to continue her quest to compete under the same rules that apply to male boxers. Her quest resulted in the WBC title being vacated, and thus her status as undisputed champion, when the WBC continued to refuse to approve women’s fights involving three-minute rounds or 12 total rounds.

Serrano has suffered just one defeat since April 2014. She dropped a split decision to undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor in one of the biggest and best fights in women’s boxing history in 2022. Since that defeat, Serrano has lost four fights. Back to back wins, all back to featherweight.

At Minky, Serrano faces a legitimate opponent who is on a six-fight winning streak. Menke has fought for a world title once before, losing to Sarah Mahfouz for the IBF featherweight belt in 2022. Mahfouz’s next fight was with Serrano in a fight that ended Serrano’s quest to unify all four world titles at the weight.

Serrano is riding high after being placed in the main event in her home country, after Paul postponed her main event date.

“He’s such a gentleman that he said, ‘This is your island,’ so he gave me the opportunity and I’m so excited to be here, face great competition, and get out there and showcase women’s boxing again,” Serrano said. He said at a press conference for the event. “I’m used to performing and going out and sitting and watching Jake perform. Now it’s the opposite. I wouldn’t mind being a co-main event, [but] He said there was no way in the world that would be the main event. This is my island. So I’m really grateful for this opportunity.”

Paul’s fight with Borland is very similar to his previous outing. With former MMA stars drying up, Paul turned his focus to fighting “real boxers.” Like any typical boxer who is still at the beginning of his career, these boxers are club level fighters.

Paul faced Andre Auguste in his last appearance in December, who entered the fight with a 10-1-1 record. August came into the Paul fight having only fought once since 2019. Paul scored a knockout in the first round.

Similar to August, Borland has a solid record on paper at 17-2, having fought once since 2018. August and Borland both entered their fights with Paul with wins over Santario Martin (who has a record of 4-7) in their matches. The last two fights.

Predictions

Meinke is not a bad fighter and is a worthy title contender. Serrano is simply the better fighter, and has had much harder fights with much better opponents. The length of rounds and combat in general should also be considered. Serrano has gone the full 12 rounds in three minutes each, Menke has not and that could be a major factor in the fight. Serrano has great power but has gone seven fights without stopping. It’s likely that this fight will continue and Serrano is the woman who ultimately has her hand raised. Selection: Amanda Serrano via UD

Paul was in the main support bout not only because he wanted to give that honor to Serrano, but also because fights with the August and Borlands of the world wouldn’t attract viewers the way fights with former UFC stars would. It’s hard to blame Paul for trying to continue building his boxing sk**ls by facing men who have been boxing – to one degree or another – for years. But there’s not much drama here other than whether Paul is able to stop a rusty player at the club and how quickly he does it. Pick: Jake Paul via KO2
