Ball boy Mohamed Qudus celebrates as Newcastle beat West Ham 4-3 in Premier League thriller
Mohamed Qudus continued his excellent form this season in West Ham’s latest Premier League clash against Newcastle at St James’ Park. The game opened with Newcastle scoring in the 6th minute with Anthony Gordon winning a smart penalty. But their euphoria was short-lived as Michael Antonio scored a superb goal to equalize for West Ham. The Hammers soon took the lead in the 3rd minute of first half injury time after a superb strike from Ghana international Mohammed Qudus. Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka had no chance to save a top corner strike from the former Ajax player.

But, in a hilarious moment, a Newcastle ball boy steals the moment from Quddus. So what happened? The West Ham star wants a stool from the ball boy next to the fence shortly after scoring. As football fans know, Mohamed Qudus has an iconic celebration where he sits on a stool after scoring a goal. But, after being denied by the ball boy, Quddus had no choice but to sit on the fence with his teammates and celebrate the goal.
Newcastle upset West Ham in Premier League thriller despite Mohamed Qudus heroics
Both Newcastle and West Ham have had disappointing domestic league campaigns. While the London-based club finished in 7th position, the Saudi-owned club had a worse season. Before today’s match, Newcastle United had 12 wins and 12 losses with 4 draws. Even in today’s match, they were behind 1-3 till the 77th minute.
However, much credit will go to manager Eddie Howe who made key substitutions to turn the tie around during the match. They equalized from another penalty which Alexander Isak scored comfortably. After that, it was Harvey Barnes The former Leicester City player showed up to tear through West Ham’s defense to score two huge goals. Although Anthony Gordon was sent off in the 90+4th minute, NUFC held on to their 4-3 lead.

With this win, Newcastle moved up to 8th place in the league. Although they are currently 10 points behind 5th placed Tottenham Hotspurs (53 points), just 4 points clear of NUFC Manchester United (47 points) with 43 points in their list. Although a Champions League spot may be out of their reach as things stand, Newcastle may be able to pick up enough points to secure a Europa League spot next season.
