Brian Austin Green, ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ Cast Honors ‘Sister’ Shannon Doherty After Death: Luke Perry ‘Is in Open Arms’

Shannen Doherty was a cherished member of the “Beverly Hills, 90210” family.

After Doherty died of cancer on Saturday at the age of 53, the cast of the hit teen drama series remembered their late co-star on social media.

Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley and Gabriel Carteris were among the stars who shared emotional speeches in Doherty’s honour.

Doherty played Brenda Walsh on the Fox show, a brunette teenage thespian who tries to find her place in blonde Beverly Hills after moving from Minnesota with her family.

He left the show after season 4 in 1994.

Co-star Tori Spelling later revealed that she played a role in getting Doherty fired. She said that in 2015 she went to her father, Aaron Spelling, who co-produced and executive produced the show, and told him that Doherty was not getting along with co-star Jenny Garth.

In 2000, Doherty told Entertainment Weekly that the show was “too big” to give up at the time.

“The sacrifice of a camera pointed at my face 24 hours a day while I was desperately trying to grow up, to find my spirituality, to find my boyfriend. I mean, I was a teenager,” she recalls.

Doherty later reunited with most of her cast members for the 2019 parody show “BH90210”.

That same year, Luke Perry, who played Doherty’s on-screen love interest, Dylan McKay, died of a stroke on the show, aged 52.

Doherty became emotional talking about Perry’s death on “Beverly Hills, 90210.” panel at MegaCon Orlando in February.

“It was shocking,” he said. “Whenever someone brings up Luke I have a very visceral reaction because someone with cancer – and stage 4 is really terrible cancer – I thought I’d be the first to go. So when it was Luke, it really sent me into a tailspin.”

Following Doherty’s death, the “Beverly Hills, 90210” cast paid tribute to the beloved actress on social media.
