Calgary police investigate hate-motivated property damage to Indigenous radio station – Calgary
Calgary police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man believed to be responsible for damage to an Indigenous radio station building last month.
They suspect the incident is motivated by hate.
On August 10, at 7:31 a.m., Calgary police were called to a radio station in the 1,000 block of Center Street after a man repeatedly banged on the windows of the radio station with a big stone.
After reviewing CCTV footage, police believe the man may have targeted the radio station due to the images of Indigenous women painted on the two windows which he punched and then defaced.
The Hate Crimes Prevention Team is investigating and hate motivation is suspected.
The suspect is described as a man in his 30s, with a thin build and a shaved head, wearing no shirt, black shorts, white shoes and a black cap.
