Celine Dion is returning to Las Vegas for a new home at Resorts World: Report
Celine Dion is reportedly making her Las Vegas comeback!
Dion, 56, is said to be in the “final stages” of signing a residency deal with Resorts World after months of negotiations, TMZ reported.
“It’s basically a done deal,” a source told the outlet. “He’s doing it.”
The residency will begin in late 2024 or early 2025 and will be produced by sports and live entertainment giant AEG.
News of Dion’s potential return to the Vegas stage comes amid his ongoing battle with Steph Person Syndrome.
Stiff person syndrome is described by RareDiseases.org as “a rare acquired neurological disorder characterized by progressive muscle stiffness (rigidity) and recurrent episodes of painful muscle spasms.”
Dion shared his diagnosis with the public in December 2022. The disease forced him to cancel his “Courage World Tour” and several other shows.
The “My Heart Will Go On” singer shared some harrowing details of her health battle with fans in her 2024 documentary, “I Am: Celine Dion,” including footage of her seizures.
Despite his medical struggles, Dion was adamant that he wanted to return to performing live. Insiders claim that the reported new residence is entirely his idea.
“This is all her,” a source told TMZ. “No one is forcing him to do it. He has the passion to get back on stage and he is going to do it.”
“He’s just ready to power through it,” they added. “That won’t stop him from acting.”
It is not yet known how long the residency will last, but it will likely be much shorter than her two previous residencies at Caesars Palace, the first of which lasted from 2003 to 2007 and the second from 2011 to 2019. Those residences reportedly generated a combined $681.3 million.
Dion’s determination to continue singing live despite her health diagnosis was made abundantly clear in an interview with the CBC earlier this year.
“Oh, I’ll sing again,” Dion replied when asked if fans could expect her to continue performing. “I will sing again. It’s true.”
“Hope, [fans] There deserves to be an expectation,” he added. “They pay.”
“We get a lot of joy from fans paying shows and buying my records,” he explained. “And they have every right to have expectations.”
However, Dion said his own expectations were “probably bigger than what they were.” [the fans] Expect it from me.”
News of Dion’s potential third Vegas residency comes amid reports that she will perform at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The French-Canadian singer is rumored to be performing a duet of the French classic “La Vie En Rose” with Lady Gaga.
The “It’s All Coming Back to Now” chanteuse landed in Paris on Tuesday, July 22 and took time to greet fans waiting outside her hotel.
Dion will reportedly receive $2 million for performing at the Olympics opening ceremony.
