Conor McGregor instructed Jake Gyllenhaal throughout their epic final fight at Road House
Conor McGregor has been busy outside the Octagon and by now everyone knows what he’s up to. McGregor will make his big screen debut, starring in the upcoming, highly anticipated 1989 remake of “Road House.” Despite being relatively new to the acting business, Mack still had a lot to teach his co-stars.
Earlier, it was reported that ‘The Notorious One’ will play the role of villain Knox. McGregor’s character is rumored to be the main antagonist in the film, opposite Jake Gyllenhaal’s Eldwood Dalton. Also, the movie’s first trailer, which featured some of Conor’s best work, received rave reviews from movie buffs and MMA fans alike.
In addition to this, McGregor also revealed that he is set to become the ‘highest-paid first-time actor of all time’, pipping Dwayne Johnson for the spot. As such, he is very dedicated and engaged in promoting the movie and is very eager for fans to watch it.
Jake Gyllenhaal reveals how Conor McGregor taught him to fight
Despite his debut in Hollywood, Conor McGregor had an important role. As it turns out, his work in movies goes beyond what we can see from his character. According to the movie’s cast and other actors, the Irishman was also a huge presence and help in choreographing the action sequences in the movie.
In a recent interview with JOE, Jake Gyllenhaal and Daniela Melchior revealed Connor’s behind-the-scenes influence. According to Gyllenhaal, McGregor was instrumental in the hand-to-hand action sequences.
“For me, when we were doing fight sequences, we would come back, we would look at the monitor and then he would give me directions, ideas and new things about how to move my body, where I was. Throwing my punches when we were jumping, he was giving me instructions that a lot while we were filming”.
Further, the actor added, “In that last fight, when I put him in that headlock, and choked him out, and then he told me I was, he instructed me how to do it. It was a strange irony and he was coaching the whole time”.
Thus, it is clear that Connor’s work in the movie went above and beyond just playing a character. Coaching ‘The Ultimate Fighter 31’ Last year, it seems his work has also moved to the big screen. Notably, it was a great sight to see the co-stars speak so fondly and highly of the UFC fighter. According to them, Conor McGregor is more than capable of moving forward in Hollywood.
Conor McGregor shares his thoughts on acting and movies
Previously, Conor McGregor made his much-awaited appearance at UFC 285. As it turns out, the Irishman was filming a segment with the cast and crew of the movie ‘Road House,’ a UFC event utilizing the crowd and the real-life Octagon. Safe to say, it has attracted more fans, raising more hype and expectations for the movie.
Since then, we have seen Connor doing a lot of promotional work for the movie. Recently, he has also attended premieres and world tours. Notably, he had some very interesting comments to make before his first performance:
“It was hard work. you know It was easier to fight than that. And, I’m excited and eager to get back into the fight game because it’s a tough business and I have a lot of respect for everyone in it.”
With that said, Conor McGregor is eyeing a return to the Octagon this year, with International Fight Week his main target. While Michael Chandler is the likely opponent, it remains to be seen when the fight actually takes place. If things go his way, we could see McGregor take to the Octagon at least twice this year.
