Cops shoot armed suspect in Queens after man points gun while fleeing
Police opened fire on an armed suspect in Queens on Thursday night and he was seriously injured, sources said.
The unidentified suspect fired a gun at officers near 56th Street and Beach Channel Drive in the Rockaways around 8:15 p.m. Thursday, according to law enforcement sources.
Neighborhood Security Team cops chased him and another man on foot, sources said. After one suspect was nabbed, the other fled, pointing a gun at the officers.
The suspect was punched in the chest before he could pull the trigger, sources say.
The man was taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition. His weapon was recovered at the scene.
The NYPD confirmed the shooting and said the investigation would continue.
