Draymond Green still can’t leave GSW for Klay Thompson Mavericks
Draymond Green discusses his feelings about Klay Thompson making a decision this offseason. For those who may not be aware, Klay signed a 3-year deal worth $50 million with the Dallas Mavericks instead of returning to the Warriors.
Considering the accomplishments the trio of Steph, Klay and Draymond have been able to accumulate over the past decade, one would struggle to understand how Steph and Draymond feel about Klay’s departure. With that being said, let’s take a closer look and find out more.
Draymond Green feels conflicted about Klay Thompson joining the Dallas Mavericks
Of all the members on the Warriors roster, Draymond is clearly the most interactive and even has his own podcast. Green was interviewed recently. He was initially asked about the young GSW stars who participated in the team selected to help prepare Team USA for the Olympics.
Draymond was then asked about his emotions about Klay leaving. While some fans might have assumed someone like Green would prepare an answer to this obvious question, the Warriors veteran kept things real and spoke candidly.
“This is now a classic story of suppressing your emotions. I didn’t allow myself to process it. I don’t want to. I feel like when I have to face it. However, I am happy for Klay. Glad he got the chance to play basketball at a high level and get back to feeling like Klay. So I look forward to that. I think he’s going to have a really big year and show people that he still has a lot left in the tank.”
The Warriors star certainly makes a valid point. Although he is happy for Clay, the fact remains that they will be considered rivals every time they step on the basketball court. This undoubtedly makes Green feel conflicted.
Steph Curry also had an emotional message for Klay Thompson
Steph Curry and Klay Thompson have cemented a place as one of the best, if not the best backcourts in NBA history. The Splash Brothers revolutionized the game and turned the Warriors into a dynasty that will never be forgotten. While Steph was preparing for the Olympics, she sent a heartfelt message on social media after news of the Klay Thompson trade broke.
Steph credits Clay for all the success the Warriors have seen and reminds him that their greatness will never be forgotten. Much like Draymond, Curry expressed delight that Thompson was in a position that allowed him to compete for a championship. Fans wonder how the trio will interact during the first matchup between the Mavs and Warriors next season.
