Erica Mena ‘Won’t Appear’ on Next Season of ‘Love & Hip Hop’ After Calling Co-Star a Racial Slur
Erica Mena “will not appear” in the next season of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” after calling her co-star Spice a “monkey” during a heated argument.
“The ‘Love & Hip Hop’ franchise has never shied away from tough conversations in our community,” the VH1 series wrote in an Instagram post on Saturday. “Working hand-in-hand with our partners, viewers will see the impact of Erica Mena’s remarks play out in the final three episodes of the season.
“Effective immediately, she will not be appearing in the upcoming season of ‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,'” the announcement concludes.
Page Six reached out to representatives for Mena and the network for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
Ahead of the statement, fans called for Mena to be fired from the show after she used racial slurs on Tuesday’s episode.
During the confrontation in question, Spice, 41, claimed that Mena’s 16-year-old son King “hated” his own mother.
In response, the 35-year-old video vixen shouted, “You fucking monkey, you fucking blue monkey! and knocked over a table.
“Erica Mena needs to be fired #LHHATL,” wrote one viewer. “How come you’re in a 99% black cast and call someone a monkey in an argument.”

Another added: “@ericamena calls people monkeys so what are his children from a black man? Does she call her children monkeys?
“The comment is so offensive that she should be fired from #lhhatl ASAP.”
A third social media user wrote: “Wow. I am appalled. Erica Mena just called Spice a monkey. She should definitely be fired. It’s pure racism.
Although Mena hasn’t spoken publicly about the incident, Spice told Forbes she was at peace after their public argument.
“I’m on my way to becoming this new woman,” she said Wednesday. “I feel like that’s part of what I signed up for. So I’m fine. I’m in a better space right now.
Mena became a cast member of the “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” franchise in 2018 after starring in multiple seasons of “Love & Hip Hop: New York.”
Apart from her eldest son – whom she shares with her ex Raul Conde – she also has two children with her ex-husband, Safaree.
The ‘Stepmother’ actress and the ‘Paradise’ singer, 42, tied the knot in 2019 but called it quits in 2021 after welcoming daughter Safire, 3, and son Legend, 2.
