Gwyneth Paltrow says ‘fk you’ to Bill Clinton because he fell asleep during her movie screening: ‘He was snoring right in front of me’
Gwyneth Paltrow jokingly insults Bill Clinton in a new interview.
During an appearance on “Hot Ones” on Thursday, the “Shakespeare in Love” actress was asked about a long-standing rumor that the former president pa*sed out during a White House screening of her 1996 film “Emma.”
“Real. He was snoring right in front of me,” she confirmed to host Shaun Evans. “I thought, ‘Wow, I think this is going to be a really successful movie.’”
“But he was like, ‘f**k you, Bill Clinton!'” she joked.
Based on Jane Austen’s beloved novel, the film centers on a young woman in 19th-century England who is determined to set up her boyfriends with potential husbands.
It also starred Toni Collette, Jeremy Northam, Alan Cumming and Greta Scacchi.
The film was considered a success, grossing approximately $40 million worldwide on a production budget of less than $8 million.
Elsewhere during the interview, the 51-year-old actress disparaged superhero movies despite having starred in two “Iron Man” films.
“If you look at the industry as a whole, there’s a big push toward superhero movies,” she said.
“I mean, you can only create so much good work that feels really original, and yet there’s still, you know, always trying to reach as many people as possible, which sometimes gets in the way of quality or specificity or real perspectives.”
The “Sliding Doors” star has stepped back from acting the past few years to focus on Goop — her wellness and lifestyle company.

“I never said I was going to quit acting,” she told Savannah Guthrie on the “Today” show in a 2020 interview. “What I’m saying is goop is my lifelong pa*sion, and being the founder and CEO of goop is what I do all day every day, and sometimes when something is the right thing and works for my kids and my goop life, I’m able to share.
“I think I’m not focusing on acting full-time right now,” she added.
The dedicated website depicted various objects such as a vaginal scented candle.
The $75 candle, which started as a joke between Paltrow and perfumer Douglas Little, quickly sold out. This was followed by another scandalously scented candle, dubbed “This Smells Like Orgasm.”
