Harry and Meghan’s bad press were a ‘gift’ to ‘deified’ William and Kate: claims Graham Norton

Graham Norton has weighed in on the British public’s consensus regarding the royal family.

Appearing on Thursday night’s “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” the Irish comedian and talk show host was asked what Brits think of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

“Since you can speak for all British people,” Cohen began to ask Norton. “What do you think is the prevailing feeling about Harry and Meghan out there at this point?

“It’s difficult,” Norton, 60, responded. “I think in the press it’s very anti-them, and it’s been a gift to [Prince] William and [Princess] Kate because now they are deified. They can’t do anything wrong.

“I mean, Kate can run and run and it would be nice because she’s such a lovely person,” he said sarcastically. “But do ordinary people care that much?” I don’t think that’s the case. I think they just think, “Let them live their lives. »

Since leaving royal life in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Suss*x have crossed the pond to North America in a bid to start fresh.

After finally settling in Montecito, California, the couple sat down for an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, followed by the release of their six-part Netflix documentary, as well as Harry’s moving memoir, “Spare.”

Both men harshly criticized the royal family and society’s way of life, provoking negative reactions from the media and public.

But Norton’s comments appear to conflict with those of royal biographer and expert Angela Levin, who recently said “no one wants” Harry and Meghan to return to the UK.

Last month, it was reported that the Suss*xes were hoping to repair their soured relationship with William by renting an apartment at Kensington Palace.

“I think they’re doing all this because they want to come back…they were going to rent a room in one of the palaces and be there so they could help, but no one wants them to help them,” Levin said to Sky News. Australia last month.

Levin later told GB News that the royal family simply didn’t trust Harry in case he “sells out everything he’s told.”
