Heidi Montag had part of her chin cut off during a plastic surgery revision in 2009

Heidi Montag reflects on her November 2009 plastic surgery overhaul — including having part of her “chin” cut off — and the impact it had on her final season of “The Hills” with her husband Spencer Pratt.

“At the time, my surgeon said to me: ‘Oh, the recovery will be quick, a few months.’ And it took me over a year to heal, so I could barely speak [with] my jaw,” the “Superficial” singer, 37, says on Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast.

“I just had part of my chin sawed off,” she continues. “It was really a lot to deal with that.”

At the age of 23, Montag underwent as many as 10 cosmetic procedures at a time – shortly before production resumed on the sixth and final season of “The Hills.”

The surgical procedures, performed by the late Dr. Frank Ryan, included chin reduction, breast augmentation, revision rhinoplasty, brow lift, liposuction, facial fat injections and ear pinning, among others. others.

“I wasn’t even in a place [to film]. And I kept saying, ‘I’m not a person right now.’ I need to heal and recover and I’m not doing well physically. I can’t present myself as I was,” the reality star recalled telling MTV producers.

“I thought I would bounce back and be able to be on TV like I was after my first plastic surgery,” continues Montag, who had her breasts and nose done years before. “But there were just too many things to do and each thing took too long and it hurt so much.”

She adds: “I was in a lot of pain.”

Montag — who acknowledges that the sequence of surgical operations was “obviously [her] choice” — said she was “unaware of the repercussions,” including a near-death experience.

“They called Spencer at one point and told him I was practically dead. I wasn’t okay,” she says of her post-op scare.

She explains that at one point, her heart was only beating five times per minute after she was allegedly given the incorrect dose of the opioid Demerol for pain relief.

“We had to have nurses at the house for months to help me recover,” Montag says of the aftermath.

“So we deal with that, and then we have these producers who say, ‘Say this and that.’ And we’re like, “We can’t do this.” »

The couple – known to fans as “Speidi” – ultimately bowed out of “The Hills” midway through season 6.

Today, however, they’re claiming more time in the spotlight with a new podcast, “Speidi’s 16th Minute,” part of Spotify’s The Ringer podcast network.

“Sometimes no one knows what’s going on with the paparazzi edit,” Montag tells us of the project that explores the underbelly of reality TV and its impact on pop culture.

“So it’s also kind of an inside scoop on Hollywood…sharing inside information that people don’t necessarily want to divulge.”
