As the Greens return from battle, they parade the body of the dead dragon Melis through the streets of King’s Landing. The dragon is auspicious and considered a bad omen by the small folk in King’s Landing. Grand Maester Orville (Kurt Igyawan) treats King Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Kearney) who may or may not survive.

Meanwhile, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) finds it challenging to run her council after Rhaenys’ death. Jacerys Velarion (Harry Collett) flies to meet the Freys and promises them Harrenhal if the Blacks win.

To determine Aegon’s successor, the Council of Greens meets. Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) wants to rule in Aegon’s absence but the council, along with her closest allies Kristen Cole (Fabian Frankel) and Laris Strong (Matthew Needham), decide that Amond will take over as Prince Regent.

Among Aemond’s first orders was to close the gates of King’s Landing. This leaves Hugh the Hammer (Kieran Beau) and the other little guys struggling with resources in a town stuck with no food. Maisaria (Sonoya Mizuno) is once again hiding in King’s Landing and plans to cause more chaos in the city to help the Blacks.

At Harrenhall, Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) finds it difficult to manage his mental demons and keep the houses together as Alice Rivers (Gail Rankin) plays tricks on his mind. He has a vision of his mother, who he appears to be romantically involved with, telling him that he is the rightful heir to the throne.

Bella Targaryen (Bethany Antonia) convinces Corlys Valerion (Steve Toussaint) to become Hand of the Queen, and Jacerys asks him to use the unused dragons Silverwing and Vermethor in battle.

As suggested by Jacerys, Rhaenyra would seek out the Targaryen clan and look for people with dragon blood as potential riders for Silverwing and Vermeathor. This would be a turning point in the war for blacks.

According to ‘Fire and Blood’, the dragon riders will be Hugh the Hammer, Wolf White (Tom Bennett), Adam of Hull (Clinton Liberty) and Nettles. Three of these characters are already established in the opening episodes. The next episode is probably going to be about these dragonseeds who have become an important part of the Blacks.

For the Greens, their obsession with the Riverlands continues as Amond and Kristen Cole look to capture the most important strategic position for the war. At Harrenhall though, the Daemon Targaryen awaits them and we’ll likely see him and the Rhaenyra mend their conflict after the Daemon is whisked away.
