Italian police deliver vital gift in specialized Lamborghini
The best gifts this holiday season haven’t been delivered in an ordinary sleigh.
Italian police used their inflated luxury Lamborghini Huracán to deliver two kidneys to beneficiaries in need, the department said on Tuesday.
“Travelling on the highway to give the best Christmas present: life,” Polizia di Stato wrote on Facebook. “Thanks to the special State Police Santa Claus, two people received a kidney… Good life!”
Police rushed the kidneys from Padua about 105 miles to Modena, then another 250 miles to Rome, the Guardian reported.
The department shared photos of its officers delivering organs from the sleek white and blue sports car into the hands of hospital workers.
Lamborghini offered the department two of the specialist cars – which can run from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and have a top speed of over 200 mph – specifically for urgent organ transport.
The department’s Lambo is equipped with a refrigerated medical compartment to preserve delicate cargo.
Officers used the Huracán in a series of vital deliveries.
In November 2020, police averaged 145 miles per hour to transport a kidney more than 300 miles in just two hours, the Drive reported.
