Jamie Carragher is one of the most controversial football pundits in the world. The former Liverpool defender is notorious for his outlandish comments on football, which have drawn widespread criticism from fans of the sport.
Real Madrid’s fanbase in particular has developed a particular animosity towards the English pundit. Jamie Carragher has slammed the club’s many epic wins in the UEFA Champions League, which has upset Real Madrid’s fanbase.
π£οΈ Jamie Carragher on Real Madrid: βIt’s incredible and not luck, if you do it every season it’s something special, there’s a belief that they’re going to score late, the opposition think the goal is going to come.

However, it seems the 46-year-old has had a change of heart for the Spanish side. Jamie Carragher hailed Real Madrid’s comeback win against FC Bayern Munich in the UCL 23/24 semi-final 2nd leg, thanks to a mastercla*s from Joselu.
she said“It’s incredible and it’s not luck, it’s something special if you do it every season, there’s a belief that they’re going to score late, the opposition thinks the goal is going to come.”
He also added that Real Madrid have always surprised the 46-year-old at UCL. However, the English pundit has backfired on his words by suggesting that Real Madrid’s victory in the competition is not trivial. History is full of examples where Jamie Carragher has undermined the achievements of Spanish teams at UCL.
Jamie admitted that Real Madrid winning the UCL in 2022 was down to luck
Real Madrid’s title win in 2021/22 is perhaps one of the best UCL runs ever by a team. ‘Los Blancos’ Defeated Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Liverpool en route to the coveted title. What was even more exciting about the run was the way Real Madrid had to pull out a result from a near-lost position.
However, Jamie Carragher begged to differ as he almost suggested that Real Madrid’s UCL win that season was a fluke. He said (via ONEFOOTBALL), “I think Real Madrid is one of the luckiest teams to win the Champions League. [Against] PSG [they] Scored two goals [12] Chelsea took them into extra time with minutes to go. City of people [they] Scored two goals in the last minute and in the final [Thibaut] Courtois was man of the match.”

Carragher even recently slammed Real Madrid for beating Manchester City in the UCL QFs 23/24. He commented, βManchester City is a better team than Real Madrid, but Real Madrid have something in the Champions League.” And the team that wins the Champions League will not be the best team in Europe.
Jamie Carragher’s comments are certainly very disappointing and it seems to us that his hatred towards Real Madrid is intensified especially when an English team receives a knockout punch from a Spanish side. English pundits should rather exercise some neutrality and acknowledge Real Madrid’s legacy in the competition.
Jamie Carragher believes Borussia Dortmund are scared to face Real Madrid
The former Liverpool defender has done a complete U-turn on his previous position at the Spanish club. He has even already declared Real Madrid as favorites to win the UEFA Champions League in the 23/24 season. Jamie Carragher believes Borussia Dortmund are incapable of winning the title and would rather play against FC Bayern Munich.
He said (via Metro), “I actually think Borussia Dortmund will be destroyed too. Because they are playing against Real Madrid in the European Cup final. They will feel they know Bayern Munich better, having beaten them the last time they played away from home.
Many teams wanted to play against us. Luckily we’re really nice guys and have made it to the finals to get as many of them as possible π

Perhaps, the comments come at a bad time, when Borussia Dortmund’s players are determined to beat Real Madrid in the final. The German side made it clear that they need not fear their Spanish opponents in the final. It will be interesting to see if Jamie Carragher’s words come true and Real Madrid really go on to win the UCL.
