Jay Glazer: Expect Jets to ‘pass’ Zach Wilson after season

Jay Glazer thinks the Zach Wilson era is officially over with the Jets.

Despite Wilson’s continued struggles this season, it would be a stunning development for a player the Jets drafted second overall just over 18 months ago and played just 22 games for Gang Green. But it looks like being benched for Chris Streveler in Thursday night’s loss to the Jaguars might have been the final straw.

On PKB Sports’ pregame show on Saturday, Glazer said the Jets had “lost all faith in Zach Wilson.” He says neither the Jets nor Wilson himself have confidence in the quarterback and “expect the Jets to walk away from him after this season.”

Still, Jets head coach Robert Saleh continues to leave the door open for Wilson.

After the Jets’ 19-3 loss at Jacksonville on Thursday, Saleh said, “We’re not going to give it up.”

Time will tell us. The Jets will have decisions to make, however. Mike White is a free agent after this season and there will be plenty of options through the draft and in free agency.

Wilson’s short stay in New York was not good. This season, he’s thrown for just 1,686 yards, six touchdowns and seven interceptions in nine games. He has a quarterback rating of just 72.8 and the Jets fell to 7-8 and last in the AFC East.
