Jorge Masvidal still hasn’t forgotten Nate Diaz’s comments from 5 years ago

Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal are currently on ‘The Baddest Tour’ as they promote their upcoming boxing match. The former UFC fighters will step into the boxing ring on June 1, 2024 in a highly anticipated bout.

The duo has already completed media duties in Las Vegas. They attended a media event in New York on Tuesday. Diaz and Masvidal will take up their promotional duties in Los Angeles and Miami in the coming days.

During their latest event in New York, the fighters held an entertaining press conference. Fans in the crowd enjoyed their answers as they tried to one-up each other all the time.

Nate Diaz called Jorge Masvidal a quitter and that didn’t sit well with GameBread

Jorge Masvidal has fought 52 times in his pro-MMA career, which is a remarkable feat in itself. ‘Gamebred’ faced Diaz once in their UFC career. The pair fought each other at UFC 244 for the BMF title. At the end of the 3rd round, Masvidal claimed the victory due to a doctor’s stoppage because Diaz was brutally cut in the eye.

After the fight at Madison Square Garden, Diaz called Masvidal a “coward” and a “quitter”. Masvidal has been mentioning this since 2019, and he’s repeated it regularly in the build-up to announcing their boxing match.

During their media event in New York, Masvidal said, “I know she wasn’t happy with the results and she said things that didn’t sit well with me… She called me a coward and a quitter… Tell me I’ll quit? I have never left in my life and I have never tapped in my life. Anyone else with 50 fights who ever tap? Yes, I went to sleep because I chose not to tap.”

Diaz has tapped out once in his career. In 2006, Diaz fought Hermes Franca for the WEC Lightweight Championship at WEC 24. The Stockton native lost the fight via an armbar submission.

On the other hand, Masvidal refused to tap out with Tony Imada at Bellator 5 in 2009. Gamebred lost the fight by technical submission as he was pa*sed out but not tapped out.

Nate Diaz claims he’s still a BMF despite losing his title fight against Jorge Masvidal.

At UFC 300, Justin Gaethje lost to Max Holloway in one of the best MMA fights of recent times. Holloway proves herself to be a true BMF with her performance. Basically, though, Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal were poised to be the real BMF in the UFC. Although Masvidal earned the title after his UFC 244 win, Diaz believes he’s still the real deal.

During the event, Diaz said, “I knew I’d be back here and that time would come… After our first fight I was back to doing what I had to do. I still feel that I am the original BMF… I will continue until the end.”

Both fighters are great promoters and can expect plenty of media events and interviews in the coming weeks. Boxing bouts are just over a month away and Diaz and Masvidal will be looking for a big win.
