Kamala Harris confronted ‘herself’ in a surprise ‘SNL’ appearance days before the election

Democratic nominee for president Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live as part of a final media push ahead of Tuesday’s presidential election.

Harris encountered her impersonator Maya Rudolph on a CNN news set during the show’s cold open.

The cold opening included an impression of former President Trump wearing the orange Garbage Man vest he wore to a campaign event last week.

Maya Rudolph, Andy Samberg and Jim Gaffigan open cut to Kamala Harris, Doug Emhoff and Tim Walz respectively.

Dana Carvey also appeared as President Joe Biden.

Rudolph’s Harris clears the room, saying he “needs a moment to himself.”

“I wish I could talk to someone in my shoes,” Rudolph said to himself in the empty room.

The real Kamala Harris is then seen in the dressing room mirror.

“You and I are both sisters!”, Kamala Harris said with an ear-to-ear grin after thirty seconds of applause from the live audience.

The original Harris said, “I’m here to remind you, you’ve got this, because you can do something your opponent can’t, you can open doors.”

“Can’t I really laugh like that?” said the candidate as Rudolph clucked loudly.

The pair had fun with the name Veeps. Harris said he would end the “drama” of politics with his election, and the two said in unison, “Keep Kamala and take Onala.”

“I’ll vote for us,” Rudolph said.

“Any chance you’re registered in Pennsylvania?,” Harris said.

Veep also joined “Live from New York, It’s Saturday Night!”

Vice President Harris had a busy schedule on Saturday.

Harris was in Atlanta, GA, and Charlotte, NC earlier in the day — doing some last-minute campaigning in the Peach State in the final 60 hours before the election.

SNL has a history of inviting presidents and presidential candidates.

Former Vice President Al Gore, the late Senator John McCain and Donald Trump have each hosted episodes of the historic show. Trump hosted the show in 2004 and before the 2015 presidential election.

Former presidents Gerald Ford and Barack Obama both appeared on the show during their time in office. Obama appeared in 2018 and Ford appeared in an episode of the second season of the 50-year-old show in 1976.

The late President George HW Bush appeared on the show after his term in office in 1994.

Hillary Clinton also appeared in an episode before the 2015 election.
