Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra ends 2023-2024 season due to financial concerns
The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra has announced it is canceling its 2023-2024 season, with the organization saying financial issues prompted the decision.
“We are very sad to announce that the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra will not begin its season this week as planned,” reads a note on the group’s Facebook page. “Scheduled concerts and all other orchestra activities for the 2023/24 season will not take place.
“Given the financial situation of the symphony, it was simply not possible for the organization to continue with planned events.
A spokesperson for the KW Symphony told PKBNEWS in an email that it has also canceled all of its other programs.
“Scheduled concerts and all other activities (such as Youth Orchestra and Bridge to Music) of the orchestra for the 23/24 season will not take place,” said former KW Symphony President Heather Galt, in an email Monday.
“Youth Orchestra ticket purchasers and parents received an email last night to inform them that the Symphony will provide a tax receipt for all Youth Orchestra ticket purchases and tuition payments made so far for this season. »
She said the symphony had no further information about the cancellation at this time.
