Lauren Sánchez: ‘Inspiration’ from boyfriend Jeff Bezos ‘makes me a better person’

Lauren Sánchez is head over heels in love with her boyfriend Jeff Bezos.

The former journalist, 53, recently reflected on how the Amazon founder, 59, is an inspiration to her while discussing his infectious laugh, which she says ‘makes me smile’ .

“When I first heard her laugh, I was like, ‘Whoa! What is that?’ Now I love it,” she told The Wall Street Journal in an interview published Wednesday.

“He’s so happy, he inspires me every day, he makes me a better person every day; he is the most loving human I know,” she added.

Bezos and Sánchez began dating in 2019, however, the couple avoided being seen together until their respective divorces were finalized. The billionaire entrepreneur and his ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott, finalized their divorce in April 2019, after more than 25 years of marriage.

For her part, Sánchez and her ex-husband, Patrick Whitesell, settled their divorce in October 2019, after 13 years together.

Now Bezos – who shares four children with Scott – and Sánchez are working together to successfully merge their large families. The mother-of-three draws inspiration from the co-parenting relationship she has with the father of her eldest son Nikko.

“My best example is the relationship I have with the father of my eldest son, Tony [Gonzalez]”, she told the WSJ. “I learned to co-parent with him, so I have more experience than Jeff could have. Tony and his wife [October “Tobie” Gonzalez] are my best friends.

Sánchez added that their relationship wasn’t always great, but now they are “very good friends”.

“It took about five years, but we still communicated,” she continued. “I’m not saying being your ex’s best friend is the end of the world. My son looks at me and he’s like, ‘I’m the luckiest boy in the world because I get to celebrate Thanksgiving with both my parents and they don’t need to be married.”
