Man lying on road hit by car, killed: Comox Valley RCMP – BC | PKBNEWS

A man has died after being hit by a car while allegedly lying in the middle of the road, Comox Valley RCMP say.

At approximately 1 a.m. Wednesday, police reported in the 3900 block of Ryan Road in Courtenay that a 35-year-old man was hit by a vehicle, resulting in his death.

“Investigators spoke to witnesses at the scene who said the man was lying in the middle of the traffic portion of the road when a vehicle nearly hit him,” Const. said Monika Terragni of the Comox Valley RCMP.

“The driver of this vehicle pulled over to the side of the road and activated his hazard warning lights in an effort to warn other oncoming drivers. Unfortunately, one of the oncoming drivers did not didn’t see the man lying on the road and hit him.

RCMP investigate shooting in Osoyoos, B.C.

Police are investigating but have no reason why the man was on the road.

“At this time, we don’t know what the man was doing in the middle of the road,” Terragni said.

“We will continue our investigation and work with the BC Coroners Service to determine all of the factors that led to this man’s death.”
