Megan Thee Stallion ditched the Global Citizen Festival for Beyoncé
The stallion has run away!
Megan Thee Stallion was going to do her part to “end extreme poverty” around the world – but then she got a better offer.
Page Six learns that the rapper was supposed to headline this weekend’s Global Citizen Festival in New York’s Central Park, but dropped out because Beyoncé invited her to perform just one song in Houston, Texas. in place.
“Eleven days before she made headlines, Megan Thee Stallion withdrew from the 2023 Global Citizen Festival due to a scheduling conflict,” Pitchfork reported on September 12, citing a extremely discreet tweet of the festival, saying: “Hello, due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict, Megan Thee Stallion will no longer be available to perform at the Global Citizen Festival 2023.”
Billboard then reached out to the “WAP” rapper’s team for comment, but did not receive a response.
But sources tell Page Six that the “unforeseen scheduling conflict” was actually a brand new offer to perform with Queen Bey in their shared home state of Texas.
Meanwhile, a source close to the rapper blamed the incident on underlings, telling us it was due to “inadvertent double programming on the part of his team.” Wild, indeed.
Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” tour arrives in Houston Saturday for a two-night stand at NRG Stadium.
The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Lauryn Hill and Jung Kook are now headlining the 11th New York edition of the famous Global Citizen festival, which allows participants to “win” their tickets by “taking action” on global issues.
It will also be streamed on Amazon, Apple, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
Beyoncé herself headlined the event in 2015, as well as GC’s Johannesburg concert in 2018. Megan has yet to take the stage.
Global Citizen did not respond to us, and a representative for Megan declined to comment.
