Meghan Markle’s ‘Suits’ co-star claims there was a “foul” smell during Prince Harry’s wedding
I now pronounce you husband and wife.
Meghan Markle’s former “Suits” co-star, Rick Hoffman, claims there was a “foul” smell during the Duchess of Suss*x’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
A photo of the actor, 53, with a disgusted expression on his face, as he sat in St George’s Church ahead of the couple’s wedding, has gone viral.
“If you type my name into Google, you’ll see [me] “He made this horrible face,” he explained on the Feb. 14 episode of Barstool Sports’ “Chicks in the Office” about the brief moment that turned into a meme.
Hoffman remembers trying to keep calm because he was excited about this important royal event, but there were “cameras everywhere” capturing it.
“As time pa*sed, I started to smell something really terrible and foul,” he recalls.
The “Bernie Mac Show” alumnus said he was “extremely sensitive” to smells, so he covered his nose with his hand, which was soaked in coconut-and-vanilla-scented moisturizer at the time.
“I’m trying to cut it off,” he said of the stench, before asking: “How can I get rid of this goofy face?”
In the legal drama, Hoffman played attorney Louis Litt, a partner at the fictional New York City-based law firm Pearson Hardman LLP, while Markle played lovable attorney Rachel Zane.
The USA Network series ran for nine seasons from 2011 to 2019, although Markle left in 2018 before marrying Harry.
The former actress has kept in touch with her former colleagues, with Sarah Rafferty, Patrick J Adams, Gina Torres and Gabriel Macht attending her royal wedding.
Despite her fond memories of the show, Page Six reported last month that Markle turned down an offer to reunite with her former co-stars at this year’s Golden Globe Awards.
“Suits” has seen a major resurgence since becoming available to stream on Netflix in mid-2023.
Since regaining popularity, the cast has kept in touch, although Torres, 54, said the duchess was not part of their set script.
“When this all happened, we were all texting each other. Yeah, our text thread is crazy now. It’s very exciting,” she told Variety in January, adding that the cast didn’t have Markle’s phone number.

Markle herself expressed her happiness at the program’s renewed success four years after its conclusion.
“Isn’t this wild?” she told Variety on the red carpet of the Power of Women event in Los Angeles in November 2023.
“It’s been great to work with, such a great cast and crew. We’ve had a really good time. I’ve been in it for seven seasons, which is quite a few.”
She added, “But it’s hard to find a show you can watch that many episodes these days, so that might have something to do with it. But good shows last forever.”
While it doesn’t appear that Markle is looking to return for the “Suits” spinoff, it’s clear that she’s on her way back to Hollywood.
Markle and Harry, 39, left their royal duties in 2020 and now live in Montecito, California, with their two children: Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2.
The couple have been slowly building their entertainment empire, from founding their production company Archewell to Markle’s upcoming podcast and, most recently, the newly launched Suss*x.com.
