Michael Jordan is slowly but surely losing his grip on the GOAT tagline
It looks like the majority of opinion surrounding the GOAT conversation has finally shifted from Michael Jordan to LeBron James. As almost every single fan knows, LeBron and Jordan are widely recognized as two of the best players in NBA history and are often compared by fans and experts alike to find out who was truly the best.
Given that their careers never overlapped, many wondered what would happen if the two met in their prime. Because LeBron has dealt with so many challenges and failures throughout his career, most older fans still believe that Michael Jordan is the undisputed GOAT. However, a recent post on social media seems to suggest that things have changed.
LeBron James is increasingly credited as the GOAT by fans
It’s been decades since Michael Jordan stepped on an NBA court. Therefore, most fans never saw him in action or remember what the 6x NBA Champion was capable of. LeBron, on the other hand, has been in the league so long and continues to play at a high level. As a result, his fanbase has been growing quite slowly over the years.

With each record broken and each milestone passed, more fans voiced their support for King James’ place in the GOAT conversation. Because he is still playing at an elite level while representing Team USA on the international stage, fans are in awe of LeBron.
I don’t see LeBron? Where are the community notes when you need them?

A post celebrating Michael Jordan with a caption suggesting he’s the GOAT has been flooded with comments. Most of them pointed out that LeBron didn’t show up and as a result, the real GOAT wasn’t present. While this debate between LeBron James and Michael Jordan never really seems to end, one must wonder if there are any other former or current NBA stars who deserve to be in the conversation.
Will any other stars enter the GOAT debate alongside Michael Jordan and LeBron James?
When NBA experts and members of the media engage in the GOAT discussion, LeBron and Jordan are usually discussed. The third spot appears to be open. Some claim that Kobe Bryant or Magic Johnson should get it. Others say Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell or Larry Bird could also make a case.
As for current players, only Steph Curry and Kevin Durant deserve enough accolades to be considered top 10 players. However, they are not expected to move up the rankings unless they win more titles before the end of their careers. It’s also possible that Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown win multiple titles in the near future and find themselves in the conversation.
