New Brunswick man with long criminal history charged with murder of elderly couple – New Brunswick
Police say a 27-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the 2019 murder of an elderly New Brunswick couple.
Janson Bryan Baker, who is currently being held at Atlantic Institution, a maximum-security correctional facility in Renous, New Brunswick, is facing first-degree murder charges in connection with Bernard’s double homicide. Saulnier, 78, and Rose-Marie Saulnier, 74.
The couple was found in their residence on rue Amirault in Dieppe.
The announcement of the charges comes on the fourth anniversary of the homicide, which occurred on September 7, 2019.

Baker was charged with 32 offenses in 2021, including a shooting involving a teacher at Riverview High School, which resulted in a 12-hour manhunt that triggered an emergency alert before his arrest in Amherst, Nova Scotia.
Since the start of the investigation, police have said the incident was not random and have issued multiple releases indicating they have identified multiple vehicles of interest, most recently in May 2022, but no further updates. was shared publicly ahead of Thursday’s announcement.
At an RCMP news conference Thursday afternoon, police said they don’t believe the incident is directly related to Baker’s prior offences.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on September 14, 2023.
