New owner of home where Matthew Perry died vows to keep ‘Batman’ logo in pool: ‘Definitely will’

The new owner of the house where Matthew Perry died won’t remove the actor’s “Batman” logo installed in the pool.

Pacific Palisades sold the house exactly one year after Perry died at the property on Oct. 28, 2023, for $8.5 million in an off-market deal, according to the New York Times.

In an Instagram post shared on Thursday, Anita Verma-Lalian, a film producer and real estate developer, revealed that she is the new owner of the house.

“We are so excited to share that we purchased a home in Los Angeles earlier this month! Our agent, Brooke Elliott, said she had an amazing ‘off-market’ property she really wanted us to see,” Verma-Lalian captioned her post.

Speaking about the future of the house, Verma-Lalian revealed that while she plans to make some changes to the property, they won’t be ditching the “Batman” logo from the pool.

“We plan to keep some design elements. The pool must have the Batman logo,” he wrote, adding a smiley face emoji and a praying hands emoji. “It’s a piece of heaven filled with light and the perfect vacation home for us. Can’t wait to make new memories on it.”

Verma-Lalian also shared that she fell in love with the house as soon as her agent showed it to her.

“The moment I entered the house, I absolutely fell in love with the property, especially the view of the Pacific Ocean,” she captioned it. “We knew it was ‘the one’ and immediately decided to write an offer on it.”

The movie’s producer added that the house’s connection to Perry’s death did not influence his decision.

“As a real estate developer myself, I believe every property has a history that we may or may not know, and each home carries the energy that the current owner brings,” he wrote. “I am Hindu, and whenever you buy a new house there is a custom of blessing and praying. We are very fortunate to have our Panditji from Arizona come home to bless.”

Of Perry, he said, “We chose to honor the positive aspects of the previous owner’s life, his immense talent, and all the joy he brought to so many people. The decision to buy the house had nothing to do with the previous owner, just our love for the house.”

“Wishing you all a very Happy Diwali!! May the New Year flow with peace, joy and prosperity,” she wrote at the end of her post.

Perry purchased the 3,500-square-foot Pacific Palisades home in 2020 for $6 million. The home has four bedrooms and four full bathrooms

Perry renovated the house shortly before he died, an insider revealed to PEOPLE after the “friend” actor’s death. Perry was “incredibly happy” there and referred to the property as “heaven,” the source shared.

According to the autopsy report, the star died of acute effects of ketamine. His manner of death was listed as accidental drowning. He was 54.

Perry’s family, fans, co-stars and former colleagues paid tribute to the actor on the one-year anniversary of his death earlier this week. Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and Perry’s TV mom, Morgan Fairchild, were among those who shared memories.

In August, US attorneys indicted five people in connection with Perry’s death, accusing them of helping the actor illegally obtain the ketamine that caused his death. Perry’s former live-in assistant, two doctors and a woman known as “The Ketamine Queen” were among the accused.

The former assistant, a physician and another man who allegedly acted as “go-betweens” have accepted plea deals and are cooperating with federal authorities.
