NFL boss Roger Goodell thinks ‘it’s great’ that Taylor Swift is drawing ‘attention’ to the league’s romance with Travis Kelce

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is excited that more people are watching the league’s games because of the budding romance between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

The 64-year-old businessman told “CBS Mornings” Wednesday that it’s “great in and of itself” that the couple “seems to be enjoying their relationship” — but the new viewers are also a bonus.

“It connected more Taylor fans and more NFL fans in a way,” he said.

“To see that they have a connection, now they have a connection to our game and to Taylor…I think it’s great for the league to have that kind of attention. We therefore welcome it.

Goodell also praised Swift and Kelce for the talents they bring, calling her an “incredible artist” and him an “incredible player.”

Since Swift, 33, made his first appearance in an NFL game on Sept. 24 when Kelce, 34, faced the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., the league’s audience increased.

When the “Cruel Summer” singer went to a Jets game the following month with her star-studded crew of friends, including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, 27 million viewers watched the game or caught a glimpse Match. pop superstar from his VIP suite.

Per Variety, a Storyful newsletter noted that viewership represented a 22% increase from week 4 of last year.

Kelce’s jerseys also enjoyed a nearly 400% increase in sales across the entire Fanatics network of sites after Swift attended that first-ever game in Kansas City.

Swift has attended several of Kelce’s games since they started dating in September.

Meanwhile, Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce, recently said that her son “loves the attention” and is embracing his new level of fame “as much” as he can. Travis himself said in October that he was “enjoying the craziness.”

However, the Chiefs tight end and his brother, Jason Kelce, previously criticized the NFL for “doing too much” when Swift attended games.

“Right away, I felt like the cameras were more interested in the customers,” the Philadelphia Eagles center, 36, said on his “New Heights” podcast.

“There were a lot of stars present. The NFL is not used to celebrities coming to games.

Travis agreed at the time: “They’re doing a little too much, that’s for sure, especially in my situation. They’re just trying to have fun with it.

The media storm, however, did not prevent Traylor from continuing to publicly show his affection.

Swift and Kelce are reportedly in love with each other.

Travis recently flew to Argentina, where the couple enjoyed a public, PDA-filled night out.

The NFL pro then went to see Swift perform at her Eras Tour concert in Buenos Aires the following night, where the Grammy winner paid tribute to her by changing the lyrics to her song “Karma,” then ran towards him at the end of his show to give him a sweet kiss.

They planned to spend Thanksgiving together, but those plans were canceled after Swift had to stay in Brazil following the “traumatic” death of one of her fans before her concert.
