‘Normal People’ Star Daisy Edgar-Jones Finally Responds To Paul Mescal Dating Rumors
Marian and Connell forever?
Daisy Edgar-Jones has denied any romantic involvement with former “Ordinary People” co-star and on-screen love interest Paul Mescal.
Despite the chemistry that sparked dating rumors after the two starred in the 2020 adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel, Edgar-Jones remains steadfast four years later.
“You really watch with fascination, because it’s interesting to see what narratives people write,” he said in an interview with The Sunday Times published on July 14.
“Usually they’re pretty innocuous and when I see them it’s usually a lot of, ‘Oh, that’s What’s Face?’ And I say, ‘It,'” added the 26-year-old actress.
The actors became close friends during the filming of the show and recently attended the Glastonbury Festival in England together.
Edgar-Jones is currently dating artist Ben Seed, while Mescal, 28, previously dated singer Phoebe Bridgers.
Mescal and Bridgers, 29, have dated on and off in 2021 and made headlines with their joint appearance at the 2022 Met Gala. A viral photo of Mescal standing next to Bridgers – but looking at Edgar-Jones – further fueled dating rumors after the event.
In an interview with WhoWhatWear on July 11, the “Twisters” star called the meme “wild considering the innocence.”
“I had an out-of-body experience with the Met Gala,” Edgar-Jones explained. “So Paul said, ‘Come and meet me and we can do this together.’
Mescal and Edgar-Jones’ close friendship has developed since they worked together on the 2020 Hulu series.
At the Fastnet Film Festival in Cork, Ireland in May, Edgar-Jones joked about falling in love with Mescal while filming the drama.
“Met Paul, fell in love with Paul … as friends. I’m here to announce it,” she said at the event, discussing her time on set shooting the show.
For his part, Mescal described Edgar-Jones as his “best friend” in a 2020 interview with Deadline.
“I definitely found a friend, one of the best friends of my life,” Mescal said at the time. “If the show is a complete failure, it’s something that gives me great joy, that I found someone who is an amazing person and who I really enjoy working with.”
“I think Paul and I will always be best friends,” Edgar-Jones told the outlet. “One of the most special things I got out of ‘Ordinary People’ was meeting Paul. Because it was such a scary thing and we were both so scared to do it. To put a lot of pressure on characters that people are already in love with, and that are their own. was bound to imagination.”
Earlier this month, she called the “Gladiator II” star one of her “lifetime best friends.”
“He’s an incredibly grounded person and so am I. I think, so with those touchstones and those people, you can laugh about it and lighten up with them,” she told Variety. “We met when I was 20 and Paul was 22; where would we be at 32, 42? And I’m so excited to see what life will bring us.”
