What you need to know

Spurs fans have better hope that the team plays one heck of a game on Wednesday, because the odds are decidedly against them. They will face the Oklahoma City Thunder at 9:30 p.m. ET at the Paycom Center.

The Spurs are heading into this one after bettors pegged last week’s low/under at 220.5, but even that proved too high. They fell to the Rockets 106-101.

Even though they lost, the Spurs broke the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. These were the most offensive rebounds they have posted since February.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Hawks trailed the Thunder until halftime, but afterward: not so much. Everything went the Thunder’s way against the Hawks as the Thunder came out on top with a 128-104 victory. Winning may never get old, but Oklahoma City is getting used to it with its third straight game.

The Thunder’s success was led by the efforts of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who nearly dropped a triple-double with 35 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists, and Chet Holmgren, who nearly dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine rebounds. Additionally, Holmgren also racked up three threes, his most since April.

San Antonio now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Oklahoma City, its victory brought its record to 3-0.

Rebounding will likely be a big factor in this contest: the Spurs have crashed the boards this season, averaging 50 rebounds per game. However, it’s not like the Thunder struggle in that department, as they have an average of 49.3. As both teams fight to recover missed shots, we’ll see if one team can take the lead.

The Spurs were blown out by the Thunder 127-89 in the teams’ last game in April. This game was basically over at halftime, at which point the Spurs were down 68-35.
