Oprah Winfrey throws shade at those who use Ozempic for weight loss: ‘It’s the easy way out’
Oprah Winfrey thinks using weight loss drugs, like Ozempic, is the easy way out
The talk show host subtly shaded the celebrity weight loss trend after admitting she almost used it herself once during a panel alongside obesity specialists in the Wednesday’s episode of Oprah Daily’s “The Life You Want: The State of Weight.”
“When I started hearing about weight loss drugs, at the same time I was having knee surgery, I thought, ‘I have to do this myself.’ Because if I take the medicine, it’s the easy way out,” she explained, according to People.
Part of the pressure on Winfrey to turn to the prescription medication for type 2 diabetes was because she was “shamed in the tabloids every week for about 25 years” for her lack of ” desire” to lose a few pounds.
“You all know I’ve been on this journey for most of my life. My highest weight was 237 pounds,” she said, according to Today.com.
“I don’t know if there is another public figure whose struggle with weight has been exploited as much as mine over the years.”

But Winfrey, 69, ultimately decided against jumping into the hottest celebrity trend.
“Shouldn’t we all just be more accepting of the body you choose to be in?” It should be your choice,” continued Winfrey – who purchased a 10% stake in Weight Watchers in 2015.
The TV host was rea*sured by Dr Fatima Cody Stanford, who added that “obesity is a chronic disease” that affects 2 million people worldwide.
“It’s difficult to see you ostracized the way you have been. Because it’s not a question of will. It’s not your fault,” the obesity doctor said.
“It’s how our body regulates weight and each of us is different, each of us is unique, none is superior to the other.”
The Oprah Winfrey Show alum has been transparent about her health journey over the years and especially since her double knee surgery in 2021, which has made her appreciate her body more.
“When I first came home, I literally couldn’t lift my leg. I couldn’t lift my heel off the bed and vowed to myself that if I was ever able to get up, walk and move again, I would benefit from movement, exercise and my ability to be fully in my body. body,” she said on her website at the time.
Winfrey added that she began hiking and moving her body more during her rehabilitation.
And while the media mogul decided to refuse weight loss drugs, other celebrities have admitted to using the drug to slim down their figures.
“Real Housewives of Orange County” star Emily Simpson, 47, was one of the recent stars to credit her 40-pound weight loss to Ozempic and liposuction in a video posted to Instagram on Wednesday.
As for comedian Tracy Morgan, 54, he revealed during an appearance on the “Today” show that he is addicted to taking photos of Ozempic every Thursday.
“I won’t give up,” he said. “It cuts my appetite in half. Now I only eat half a bag of Doritos.
Sharon Osbourne, 70, also admitted last month that she had tried taking medication after battling a “weight problem” and trying everything to be skinny.
