Anderson — who has ditched makeup for everything from Paris Fashion Week to magazine covers in recent months — worked with celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath to create the garden-inspired beauty look.

“Pam wanted to wear makeup again for the Met Gala, so we created a look that acknowledged her natural beauty but then took it to the next level,” McGrath said in a press release, explaining that the duo teamed up to “explore what’s next.” Natural embodiment.”

The makeup legend explained that the look was an “elevation of naturalness” and that Anderson wanted to “show how you can wear a full face of makeup but in a very new and beautiful way.”

To achieve her rosy look, McGrath — who described the overall aesthetic as “airy and lively, with a touch of fantasy” — used Nude Skin Fetish: Highlighter + Balm Duo ($50) with her brand’s Divine Cream Blush: Legendary Glow Color Balm ($29). $) and Lust Gloss ($29) in a yet-to-be-released pink shade.

Moving to the eyes, Anderson highlighted her features with shimmery pink shadow from the Pat McGrath Mothership II palette ($128).

While a drawing by legendary artist Pat McGrath is certainly an occasion in itself, Anderson seemed to be enjoying her Met Gala debut, posting a fun video of herself running through Central Park with her dress billowing behind her after the star-studded event.

Although she’s gone mostly makeup-free since the beloved makeup artist’s death in 2019, Anderson has also scored a beauty campaign, showing off her signature smoky eye again for Smashbox Cosmetics earlier this year.

But she still focuses on natural beauty, and has even launched her own skincare brand.

“I think I’m the happiest I’ve ever been myself,” she said in a 2023 interview with French Vogue.

“What matters is what’s inside the clothes, and I believe beauty comes from within.”
