Priyanka Chopra abandons New York restaurant Sona she opened with a friend after 2 years as feud rumors swirl
Things may have gotten a little too spicy at Sona’s house, it seems.
Hollywood star Priyanka Chopra and her friend Maneesh Goyal have transformed their upscale Indian restaurant in the Flat Iron District into a picturesque venue and hub for the city’s Indian elite.
So foodies were shocked when Ms Nick Jonas unexpectedly left the company over the summer, just two years after it launched.
The couple had a great time following the release, with a rep for the “Quantico” actress telling People: “Bringing Sona to life will invariably be a proud and important moment in her career.” . . Priyanka has always strived to bring Indian culture to the forefront through storytelling, whether through engaging content for film and television, or a beautifully served dish that embodies Indian haute cuisine.
And Goyal said working with her had been “a dream come true”.
“We are grateful for their partnership and support,” he told the magazine. “Even though she will no longer be involved as a creative partner moving forward, she remains part of the Sona family and we are excited about our respective new chapters ahead.”
But a month after her departure, rumors are still swirling that Chopra left on bad terms.
To add to the intrigue, it seems that the Indian crowd’s Diwali plans are a little less comfortable than before.
“Choose your side”
While Goyal and Chopra BFF Anjula Acharia hosted a joint Diwali party last fall at the Pierre Hotel, The Post learns that this year, Acharia is again hosting her party at the Pierre and Goyal is hosting another at the Mandarin Oriental.
A source said the chic South Asian group had to choose sides, with one comparing the two nights to a post-divorce vacation: “It’s like, who’s going to mom’s party and who’s going Dad’s?”
Goyal said on Monday: “I am delighted that after co-hosting with Ms Acharia, the wonderful South Asian community is large and vibrant enough to warrant two events. I am looking forward to both the events and the upcoming Diwali season.
Chopra’s representative did not return to The Post.
