Renée Rapp was ‘disappeared for seven hours’ after being ‘drugged’: ‘I still have no idea what happened’

Renée Rapp has revealed she was “disappeared for seven hours” after being “drugged” at a party in Los Angeles in early 2022.

The 23-year-old singer opened up about the traumatic experience – which inspired her new single, ‘Snow Angel’ – during an appearance on Jay Shetty’s ‘On Purpose’ podcast on Monday.

Rapp, who had just “gone through a breakup” at the time, explained that she had found herself in the wrong crowd and found herself alone at 5 a.m. “in the bathroom” of a bar. hotel, with no memory of what had happened. the night before.

“I was living here in LA and hanging out with a new group of people, and they were partying,” she explained.

Although her close friends and family didn’t think it was a “good group” for Rapp to hang out with, the actress explained that she felt a sense of “freedom” for the first time in a long time.

“I really let my judgment drop when it came to the people around me,” she said. “We were all out, and it was situation after situation where they just weren’t trustworthy, and then the next thing you knew, I was face up, lying in the bathroom of a hotel bar, waking up at 5 p.m. in the morning, completely alone.

“I woke up and I was so confused, and I had blood on my pants, and I was really so caught off guard,” she added.

Although, thankfully, she still had her phone and purse, the ‘Sex Lives of College Girls’ alum says she only received two text messages asking if she was okay.

“I had missed two text messages from two people I was with around 10:30 p.m. the day before. It was as if seven hours had pa*sed. It was like, ‘Hey, I guess you’re gone, we’ll see you again when we see you.’

“I still have no idea what happened, no idea what happened,” she explained. “But I was on drugs and had been missing for seven hours.”

The former Broadway star says she ‘stopped being friends with those people’ and also cut back on her parties – but it took months for her to come to terms with the frightening situation.

“I didn’t even really understand what was going on because, again, I didn’t really remember what happened,” she told Shetty. “A few months later, we really looked into the matter. I kind of started having to come to terms with everything that had happened, and I was crying, so upset, very confused, and then resentful of the friends I was with.

When it came time to start writing her album the following year, Rapp reluctantly agreed to tell her story even though she was “afraid” that people would “judge” her.

“I didn’t feel anything at all until we recorded the song, it was all over, and I played it for a group of my friends and my manager, and everyone was like, ‘This is crazy,’” she recalls.

“But for me, this whole year of my life has been an inherent resilience…I was fighting through an experience where I [had] no idea what happened to me i lost friends i felt like i couldn’t date and trust anyone and then it was like trying to explain the situation of a way that I could understand it but I didn’t really understand it and then wanting to write a song about it and wanting to write an album about it.
