‘RHOSLC’ recap: Heather Gay finally shares the backstory behind her black eye
Heather Gay has finally revealed that she can’t remember how she got her infamous black eye because she was too drunk.
“I passed out,” the reality star, 40, said during the first part of the “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” reunion on Wednesday. “I don’t know how it happened.”
Gay’s admission came weeks after his co-stars and viewers speculated on dozens of theories about how Bravolebrity had a serious whim during a casting trip to San Diego.
“I woke up terrified. I had my phone plugged in, I was in my pajamas,” Gay explained, adding that she was “afraid” her co-stars would see it as an opportunity to “rewrite the narrative” if they knew she wasn’t s didn’t remember.
At the time the incident happened, Gay contradicted herself by saying she both remembered and didn’t – which left her co-stars and fans baffled.
“I wish you had said that at the time because it caused so much damage,” added ‘RHOSLC’ star Lisa Barlow, adding that an “investigation has been launched” to determine how Gay was injured. .
Host Andy Cohen clarified that Bravo conducted an investigation, but they “found nothing and there was no additional footage”.
“When production came into my room, I told them, I said, ‘I have no idea, I have no memory,'” Gay said. “And then it got out of control after that, and I take full responsibility for that, and I’m so sorry. It’s terrifying.
The ‘Bad Mormon’ author got emotional and started crying as she explained she felt ‘Mormon shame’ at the ‘humiliating’ and ‘terrifying’ thought of passing out and waking up with one eye in her face. black butter and scratches all over her.
“I know I passed out. I woke up in a very, very high stress situation with so much shame and humiliation,” Gay said.
“There was no way to hide it, and I went to my thing, which is just humor and make it go away, and it didn’t go away, but I sure don’t want to get anybody involved. be here, whoever is on the production – it’s my own guilt and shame that I lost consciousness and couldn’t explain it.
Gay also addressed a fan theory that Jen Shah ‘kicked’ her after drinking too much, which was fueled by the couple having a suspicious conversation the day after the incident.
“I trusted her the most to come up with a cover story when you pass out and have a black eye,” Gay explained in response to why she spoke to Shah, 49, the next day. .
“If I knew Jen did that I would cover it up, but that wasn’t my intention – I was passed out.”
The mother-of-three clarified that the last thing she remembered from the Marilyn Monroe-themed party was “boob jokes” with Shah, going to her bedroom and taking off her blonde wig.
“I don’t remember anything that I saw unfolding in the footage,” Gay said, referring to the filmed Shah, Meredith Marks and Angie Katsanevas entering his room just before 5 a.m.
Gay explained that she had hoped to hear or see something that would jog her memory but, sadly, she is still as in the dark as she was when she first got her black eye .
“Anything could have happened, and I assumed when I was on a show with cameras and a cast that someone would give me the trigger that would call me back, and I still don’t know how I got it,” the Beauty Lab and the founder of Laser continued.
Cohen then turned to the rest of her castmates and asked their thoughts on what happened.
Gay’s cousin and former best friend Whitney Rose – who previously denied causing the injury – said she believed Gay had an ‘accident’ while drunk or drunk. that Shah “hit her”.
Katsanevas, 48, agreed and claimed Shah was ‘at peace with herself’ the next day, which gave her a ‘very dark feeling that there was something they knew they weren’t. didn’t share with the rest of the group”.
Meanwhile Marks, 51, said she was ‘surprised’ when Gay told her she passed out because she ‘didn’t think anyone had that much to drink’.
