Ricky Lake, 55, shows 30-pound weight loss amid perimenopause, denies using Ozempic
Ricki Lake says she used Ozempic to drop at least 30 pounds amid menopause.
“On October 26, 2023, I made a vow to myself to become healthier. My husband, Ross [Burningham] “Join me in this effort,” the 55-year-old star captioned a set of photos on Instagram on Saturday.
In one slide, she is seen flaunting her abs in a black sports bra and matching leggings in a mirror selfie. In other photos, she and Burningham were seen enjoying the outdoors, including their daily commutes.
“Together, we’ve lost over 30 pounds,” she continued, stressing that the couple did not use weight-loss medications to aid in the feat.
“I really want to participate, because we did it without relying on medications. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.)”
Ozempic, an FDA prescription drug, is one of the brand names for semaglutide — also known as Wegovy — which affects the brain to maintain satiety and suppress appetite.
This popular medication is intended for people with type 2 diabetes, but is used by many individuals — including a growing list of celebrities — to lose weight.

“Neither of us had diabetes and we both felt like we wanted to at least try to do it on our own,” Lake said of her weight-loss approach.
The former talk show host admitted she was “a little worried” that she might not be able to lose as much weight as she had in the past due to perimenopause – the transitional period before menopause when a woman’s ovaries gradually start producing less estrogen. .
But Lake’s hard work paid off despite any physical changes.
“I’m so proud of us. I feel amazing. I feel so strong,” she wrote, adding that she would reveal more details about “exactly what she did” in a future post.
“But suffice it to say that this is the healthiest way I’ve lost weight in all my years,” the “Hairspray” actress raved as she revealed that she went from 165 pounds to 140 pounds in the space of four months.
Lake’s followers praised her in the comments section, not only for the strides she’s made in her health journey but for her vulnerability as well.
