Sage Steele rips Jon Rahm over bloody golf ball incident

Sage Steele delivered a small, light-hearted criticism of Jon Rahm on Tuesday.

The “SportsCenter” anchor was pierced in the face with Rahm’s errant tee shot on the third hole of the PGA Championship last May, ripping several teeth out of her and leaving her bloodied.

“As I was hiding behind the tree, no more teeth in my mouth, I looked up and saw you,” Steele said with a smile as she and the Spanish golfer “encountered” for the first time. “And I’m like, the least he can do — because you didn’t know it hit me — the least you can do is birdie that hole, for me, and you got me Drop it. I think you just parried.

Sage Steele and “SportsCenter” co-host Matt Barrie spoke with Jon Rahm on Tuesday.

Rahm expressed his admiration for Steele, who flaunted her new chompers throughout the segment, and offered a mea culpa for letting her down.

“Let me tell you, you’re tough as nails,” Rahm said. “Jesus Christ! I hit that one hard too – that was coming in with some speed. No, I don’t think I birdied. I think I had a chance to birdie; Yeah, I definitely got you I haven’t enjoyed the whole week I’m sorry I really let you down in that sense.

“I can’t believe how good you are after this, my God.” Honestly, I was oblivious, only realized what happened after the round – I can thank you for that too. It certainly would have affected me for the rest of the round.

“I heard nothing, not a complaint, nothing. And when they told me what happened, I couldn’t believe it. So, I’m sorry.”

Steele showed off her smile during the segment, including her eight new teeth.

Steele, who returned to his ‘SportsCenter’ duties three weeks after the operation, said his life ‘flashed before [her] eyes” in June. Her outlook, however, remained as bright as her new pearly whites.

“I’ll say this,” she added, “I’ve got eight beautiful new teeth. I got a great grill out of them, Jon, so I think that’s a win.
