Sauce Gardner Goes With Mike White — Not Zach Wilson — In “Madden” Stream
Sauce Gardner is a Mike White guy, apparently.
The Jets’ star cornerback opted to use White — not Zach Wilson — under center during a “Madden” game on a YouTube stream with NFL Tuesday Night Gaming, which bills itself as a “first-of-its-kind competition featuring your favorite NFL players and players.
Playing with his team, Gardner took on Matthew Meagher, better known as MMG, a YouTube “Madden,” who played with the Detroit Lions.
Perhaps aware of the Jets quarterback’s situation, MMG ribbed Gardner on his first offensive play of the game about his caller.
“You don’t have Zach Wilson in there,” MMG asked. “What is Mike White doing?”
After an errant pitch from White a play later, MMG again tried to get Gardner a run up, to no avail.
“Zach Wilson makes that pitch, I’m just going to say it,” MMG said after an incomplete pass from White.
While Gardner managed to even the score at 17 late in the fourth quarter, he succumbed to an overtime touchdown and a 23-17 loss to MMG.
The Jets quarterback drama is one of the biggest stories of this offseason. Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick in 2021, was expected to be the QB of the future but has been benched twice this season. The team started three different quarterbacks in Wilson, White and Joe Flacco. Now, rumors are swirling about a potential Aaron Rodgers trade or the arrival of a veteran quarterback like Derek Carr or Jimmy Garoppolo.
