‘Sopranos’ Star Lorraine Bracco ‘Loves’ This Perk of Letting Her Hair Go Gray
Dr. Melfi is back in the building.
Lorraine Bracco delighted viewers Monday night when she made an appearance at the 75th Emmy Awards alongside Michael Imperioli celebrating “The Sopranos” at the televised awards show.
To some, Bracco – and Imperioli – may have looked unrecognizable as both stars let their hair go gray.
The 69-year-old actress exclusively told Page Six Style that the decision to make the switch to silver was made during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I like not having to spend hours in the living room,” she explained at a recent party celebrating the 25th anniversary of “The Sopranos.”
Bracco isn’t the only celebrity who decided to ditch hair dye during the pandemic and not look back.
“Four Weddings and a Funeral” star Andie MacDowell also sports a full head of silver braids.
“My sister is all silver and she’s only 18 months older than me. I thought she looked so much better in silver. I was jealous,” MacDowell told People in 2022.

“During COVID, I could see the roots with my face, with my skin and my eyes, and I liked that. I felt like I would be happier. And I’m happier. I really like it,” she added.
Bracco also recalled with Page Six Style his time on the iconic mob series, sharing that his favorite memory was working with James Gandolfini, who of course played Tony Soprano on the HBO series.
“He was brilliant, he was fun, he was creative, he was silly, he was everything an accomplice would want,” she recalls, adding that the reunion is now “bittersweet” because of Gandolfini’s death .
The Emmy winner died of a heart attack in 2013 at the age of 51.
Meanwhile, Bracco keeps himself busy these days by visiting his home in Sambuca, Sicily, at least twice a year.
“I go in the spring and try to go in the fall for olive picking season,” she said.
And as for how she feels about starring in two iconic mob projects “The Sopranos” and “Goodfellas,” Bracco was ready to make a quip.
“Damn luck,” she cried.
