In episode 1, a bartender named Mixxy (Annie the Clumsy) tells Suzy that robots can be hacked to do whatever they want.

Therefore, in Episode 2, Suzy decides to investigate more about Sunny. He visits a local shop run by a man known for repairing robots.

While testing on Sunny, he discovers that there is no manual or guide for Sunny, indicating that it is a more advanced version of the standard robot.

Later, the old man’s granddaughter follows Suzy out of the shop and tells her about the Dark Manual.

The Dark Manual is a guidebook used to manage Sunny. The granddaughter explains that no one knows who designed the manual, but whoever did is considered a genius.

He also reveals a red tattoo of a wolf encircling his stomach, explaining that this symbol is used by whoever uses the Dark Manual.

The events of episode 2 hint that Masa (Hidetoshi Nishijima) may be the genius who created the manual.

When he sees the red tattoo, he realizes that he once saw a similar design in Masa’s notebook. Back home, he searches through his belongings but finds nothing related to it.

He even visits his mother-in-law’s house, who says she must have thrown away Masa’s painting years ago.

At the end of the episode, it becomes clear that Masa has used the Dark Manual. When someone is killed in The Division 5, he is seen drawing the same symbol on his laptop to edit the code.

Does this mean Masa is the one who locked Sunny’s previous memories? If he did, what was the reason behind it? Did Sunny kill someone?

We will have to wait for the upcoming episodes to get the answer to the lingering mystery.

‘Sunny’ episodes 1 and 2 are currently available to stream on Apple TV+.
