Taylor Swift tells fans she has ‘nothing to take revenge on’ after roasting Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy on ‘TTPD’

Taylor Swift has “nothing to get back at” with “The Tortured Poets Department” — despite her scathing lyrics about her exes Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy.

The Grammy winner told fans upon the release of her breakup album that it documents her “saddest story” that she is now “free from.”

The 34-year-old pop star explained on Instagram:[This is] A selection of new works that reflect the events, views, and feelings of a fleeting and fateful moment in time—one that was both exciting and sad in equal measure.

She continued: “This period in the author’s life has now ended, and the chapter has been closed and closed. There is nothing to take revenge on, and no scores to settle once the wounds have healed.

“On further reflection, it turns out that a large number of them were self-inflicted,” Swift admitted.

She concluded: “This writer is firmly convinced that our tears become sacred in the form of ink on a page.” “Once we tell our saddest story, we can be free from it. And then all that’s left behind is tortured poetry.

The singer’s 11th studio album — and the “15 additional songs” she released as part of “The Anthology” early Friday morning — offer a vulnerable look at her recent romances.

Not only does Swift reference her short-lived relationship with 1975’s Matty Healy in “But Daddy I Love Him” and her current relationship with Travis Kelce in “The Alchemy,” but she primarily documents her breakup with Joe Alwyn.

The former couple began dating in 2016 and kept their love out of the public eye before news of their split emerged in April 2023.

Fans were convinced ahead of the album’s release that it would center around Alwyn, 33, when she released the tracklist in February.

The list included titles such as “So Long, London,” where she lived with the actor for six years.

Swift certainly grills the actor on “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys,” and more scathing songs.

However, she also highlighted nostalgic moments from their time together, saying: “He should have seen him when he first saw me.”

Swift’s songs seem to be targeting Hailey as well, from “I Can Fix It (I Really Can’t)” to “Down Bad.”

The music video for the album’s first single, “Fortnight,” features Post Malone and releases Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
