The ‘Simpsons’ episode was pulled after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump

An episode of “The Simpsons” on UK Channel 4 has reportedly been pulled after the gunman who shot Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

The episode, “Lisa the Iconoclast” originally aired in 1996.

The plot follows Lisa as she discovers that the founder of her town, Springfield, was a murderous pirate who at one point tried to kill George Washington and looked down upon the citizens of Springfield. Lisa tries to tell everyone the truth about the town’s founder, but no one wants to hear it.

During one scene, Lisa is standing on a stage when a law enforcement officer is seen on a rooftop, targeting her — in a scene similar to what happened at Trump’s rally on Saturday.

Donald Sutherland, who died in June at age 88, guest-starred in the episode.

According to The Independent, the episode was scheduled to air on Sunday, July 14, at 1pm in the UK as part of a Season 7 marathon.

Instead, it was quietly replaced by a season 30 episode, “Baby You Can’t Drive”, which followed Marge and Homer as they work for a company that makes self-driving cars.

On Saturday, the former president, 78, was at a campaign rally in Butler, Pa., when a rooftop gunman opened fire, shooting Trump in the ear, killing a volunteer firefighter in the crowd and critically wounding two others.

The gunman killed by Secret Service snipers has been identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. According to voter status records, Crooks was a registered Republican. He reportedly bought 50 rounds of ammunition before targeting the former president. It is also reported that he was once rejected from joining his high school shooting club.

He also wore a shirt for a popular gun YouTube channel called Demolition Ranch.

The motive of the crooks is currently unclear.

“The doctor at the hospital said he’d never seen anything like it, he called it a miracle,” Trump told The Post exclusively on Sunday, describing how Secret Service agents arrived like “linebackers.”

He added, “The agents hit me so hard that my shoes fell off, and my shoes were tight… It’s surreal for all of us.”

“I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead,” Trump continued. “I’m supposed to be dead.”

“The Simpsons” viewers noticed the schedule change and took to social media. “Wondered at first why Channel 4 just pulled the scheduled airing of ‘Lisa the Iconoclast’ but I think I get it,” wrote one.

Another fan commented: “I wondered why a random next season episode was thrown in the middle of this season 7 mini marathon.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised if it was members of the public looking at the schedule and calling them or sending an email,” another viewer commented.

The Post has reached out to representatives of “The Simpsons” and Channel 4 for comment.
