‘The View’ Co-Hosts Clash Over Simone Biles’ Husband’s Controversial Remarks: ‘Give Him Some Grace’
Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin have different views on Simone Biles’ husband.
The “View” co-hosts clashed over Jonathan Owens’ controversial comment that he was more of a “catch” than his Olympian wife during their “Hot Topics” segment Tuesday.
Hostin, 55, began by saying she found it hard to believe the NFL player, 28, didn’t know who Biles, 26, was before meeting her in 2020.
“She was getting a box of Wheaties. … Everyone knows who Simone Biles is,” the lawyer added. “I don’t know who he is.”
Co-host Sara Haines agreed, sharing that she was very irritated by Owens saying that he usually views the man in a relationship as the “catch.”
“Have you met any other men?” she asked, drawing laughter from the audience and her fellow panelists. “Are you listening to yourself right now?”
Hostin then added: “I want more for her. I hope she is happy. No one ever knows what’s going on in a relationship, but she’s the catch. »
Farah Griffin, 34, was quick to defend Owens, calling him and Biles an “adorable” and “beautiful” couple who “seem very happy.”
The former White House director of strategic communications noted that Green Bay Packers security claimed he “didn’t have NBC” when Biles rose to fame during the 2016 Olympics because he was at the university, so he “may not have seen [her].”
“I understand she’s the greatest of all time, so he should have known that, but I give her some grace,” Farah Griffin added before Hostin interrupted, “He saw that box from Wheaties.”
Haines, 46, further argued that Biles’ star power “transcends” the Olympics.
The talk show co-hosts also discussed the gymnast’s recent debate with Owens over whether her sport or football is harder.

“We tried to disagree on difficulty and capacity and everything else,” Biles shared during Peac**k’s “2023 Back That Year Up” special last month.
“So at the end of the day, gymnastics is harder – whether he agrees with it or not.”
Haines said Tuesday of the subject: “No shade to football players because it happens, but, like, football players collide, like if you collide, you throw a ball at each other.”
“Gymnasts do things with their body, meaning the muscles from their fingertips to their toes. …I’d like to see this man try.
Despite all the backlash Owens has received since her statements, Biles has always remained loyal to her husband.
When Owens shared a photo of the two with the caption, “Just know we’ve been cooped up here 🤞🏽,” Biles added in the comments section, “🤞🏾💋 for life.” »
The criticism, however, has not abated, prompting the seven-time Olympic medalist to ask aboutformerly known as Twitter, “are you done yet?”
Biles and Owens first confirmed their romance in August 2020. They married in a courtroom ceremony in Houston in April 2023 and married a second time in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, weeks later.
