Third ‘Venom’ film tops box office, Tom Hanks flick debuts third
You can’t put down a good symbiote.
“Venom: The Last Dance” earned another $6.6 million in ticket sales in its second week in theaters, and remains steady at No. 1, according to The Numbers.
The film stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, a journalist forced to share his body with a monstrous-looking alien symbiote that feasts on human brains.
In eight days, the final chapter of the “Venom” trilogy grossed more than $70 million at the box office.
Psychological thriller “Smile 2,” starring Jack Nicholson’s son Ray, held onto the No. 2 position, earning another $1.98 million for a total of $47 million after its third week in theaters.
Legendary filmmaker Robert Zemeckis’ “Here” is the only new release to break into the Top 5 this week, and is at No. 3, netting $1.94 million in first-day sales.
The PG-13 flick revolves around a house, and the various families who move into it over the years.
The Post’s Jonny Oleksinski panned “here”, calling the film “like watching a bad stage play in which the actors, cranked up to 200%, deliver a soapy speech to a wall.”
“The Wild Robot” finished in fourth place, earning another $1.8 million at the box office. In five weeks, the film grossed over $115 million.
“Conclave,” a drama about the christening of a new pope starring Ralph Fiennes, is No. 5 with $1.4 million in its second week in theaters.
