Travel issues continue at Kelowna-Okanagan International Airport | PKBNEWS

Air travelers have had to deal with their fair share of vacation headaches.

Cancellations, delays and missing baggage have affected most travelers over the past week, and in the Okanagan some of these issues continue to complicate air travel.

Although the weather has improved, travelers at Kelowna International Airport (YLW) are still experiencing delays.

“I flew in from Regina, Saskatchewan. I showed up and my flight was on time between Regina and Calgary. I came to Calgary, they changed my gate three times and it was delayed two and a half hours,” Ayden Third said.

More than a dozen flights were delayed departing from or arriving in Kelowna on Tuesday. For one family, they’ve had nothing but travel headaches this holiday season.

“We flew from Sydney, Australia to LAX and then found out that all of our flights due to the big snowstorm had all been delayed at first and then cancelled,” Ella and Dominique English said.

After their flights in California were canceled more than three days later, the family finally arrived in Vancouver and had to wait even longer to get to the Okanagan.

“The flight from Vancouver to Kelowna was delayed but as soon as we touched down we said we were there so we were back on schedule but missed a few days.”

At YLW, dozens of bags are lined up near the carousel waiting to be claimed by travellers, however, some won’t be finding their luggage anytime soon.

“I had to collect my bag from international to go home and dropped my bag off at Flair Airlines,” Madi said.

“This bag went to Edmonton and someone stole it. Flair did absolutely nothing, only reason I know it’s in Edmonton is because I have an AirTag in it.

Although many people’s flights have been delayed, some are just happy to be home.

“I came from Calgary here to Kelowna, the gate was also changed three times and all along this three hour line we were delayed. It’s good to be back here,” said Anson McMaster.

Passengers are advised to always check their flight status before going to the airport.
