“If Old Crow had only waited 10 days, the Republican majority in the House could have made the bill ‘sinister’ MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH BETTER,” Trump, 76, said Monday on his social media platform. Truth.

“Just another win for the Democrats, Mitch, this wouldn’t have happened if ‘Trump’ was president!” the former commander-in-chief added.

They wanted to delay the package until Republicans take over as the majority in the House on Jan. 3, believing GOP members would have more leverage to negotiate a smaller deal.

The Senate passed the spending plan on Dec. 22 by a vote of 68 to 29, while the House approved it 225 to 201 the next day, avoiding a government shutdown.

In another post Monday, Trump suggested Democrats had dirt on McConnell and referred to the GOP leader’s wife in the Senate with a racial slur.

“Marxist Democrats must have something really big on Mitch McConnell in order to get him and some of his friendly ‘Republican’ senators to pass the awful OMINOUS ‘All Democrat, All the Way’ bill,” a said Trump.

“It gives border security to other countries, but ZERO $ in the United States, it fully funds the corrupt ‘Justice’ department, the FBI (who rigged the presidential election!), and even the ‘ Special Prosecutor’ from Trump Hating. This is also a massive giveaway and surrender to CHINA, making COCO CHOW so happy!” the 45th President added.

This is not the first time that Trump has used the pejorative term to refer to McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, who served as transportation secretary in the Trump administration and is originally from Taiwan.

The relationship between McConnell and Trump was strained at the best of times, but quickly soured after the Nov. 8 midterm elections when they blamed each other for Republicans’ poor performance.

The GOP won a narrow majority in the House, but Democrats managed to retain control of the Senate by securing a seat there β€” defying the longstanding tendency of the party not in the White House to make huge medium-term gains.

Less than a week after the election, Trump lashed out at McConnell.

β€œHe blew up the Midterms, and everyone despises him and his lovely wife, Coco Chow!” Trump wrote on Truth Social when it became clear the Democrats would keep the Senate.

McConnell blamed the setback on a lack of “quality candidates”, during a survey of Trump-endorsed candidates, and promised in an interview last week that the Republican Party would not accept a list of political hopefuls from Trump in 2024.

“Here’s what I think has changed: I think the former president’s political influence has diminished,” McConnell told NBC News.

“We can do a better job with less potential interference,” he said. “The former president may have other things to do.”
