Trump calls January 6 committee ‘sick people’ and ‘Marxists’ after damning report

Former President Donald Trump lambasted the Jan. 6 select committee for accusing him of fomenting the Capitol Hill riot in its final report, denying wrongdoing and repeating its false claims that the 2020 election had been stolen.

Trump posted the video rant on his Truth Social platform on Friday, a day after Jan. 6 released his report accusing him of engaging in a criminal “multi-part conspiracy” to nullify the 2020 election results.

“They are sick people. They are Marxists. And they are very dangerous and very wicked people,” he said of the committee members, calling their investigation a “witch hunt.”

“The committee barely discussed the catastrophic Capitol security breaches and they didn’t discuss the other thing, the reason everyone went there — the election, which was a corrupt disaster,” said Trump.

He maintained that the committee “did not produce the slightest evidence that I in any way intended or intended violence in our capital”.

The select committee released its final report on Thursday after an 18-month investigation.

“The evidence does not exist because the allegation is baseless and a monstrous lie,” he said.

Trump also took aim at the federal investigation into the treasury of classified documents seized at his Mar-a-Lago estate in August, calling the investigation a “hoax” by a “Trump hater.”

“Along with these other persecutions, the ‘deselection committee’ will go down in history as a scam and a disgrace. They want to prevent us from taking back our country. But they will fail,” he said.

In the massive 814-page select committee report, Trump is accused of rallying his supporters in a “multi-part conspiracy to overturn the legal results of the 2020 presidential election.”

The committee concluded that “the central cause of January 6 was one man, former President Donald Trump, whom many others followed. None of the events of January 6 would have happened without him.
